The BRESSER XPD-101 expedition microscope is an extremely compact microscope with phase contrast . It has 3 magnifications 40x, 100x and 400x as standard . For transport in hand luggage, for example, the lighting and the cross table can be removed and mounted in the field without tools . It is therefore ideal for biological or medical field research and can always be with you when traveling. The inverse design with phase contrast makes it perfect for examining plankton or cell cultures. Instead of special plankton chambers, standard microscope slides can be used, which makes microscopy easy and inexpensive .

The microscope is suitable for numerous areas of application , whenever a microscopic analysis on site is important:
    Plankton studies in aquatic biology
Investigation of cell cultures in microbiology and life sciences
Parasitological examinations in veterinary medicine, aquaristics or fish farming
Control of phytoplankton or live feed, for example in aquaculture or mariculture
Thanks to its compact design, the microscope can be comfortably held in the hand . For longer examinations, it is recommended to attach the microscope with the photo tripod thread in the base plate on a table stand or with a table clamp.

The LED lighting has a permanently installed, centerable phase contrast device for the 40x objective . With the 4x and 10x objectives, a contrast is achieved that roughly corresponds to the conventional darkfield . 2 alkaline 1.5V Mignon / AA batteries are required for the lighting (batteries not included).

If there is no power supply, the microscope can also be used without the LED lighting. It is sufficient to dismantle the lighting. Bright daylight can then be used as a light source to microscope in normal brightfield. The expedition microscope is therefore particularly reliable and always ready for use , independent of the mains .

For the use of an optional MikroCam the 0.5x reducing optics Art. No. 5914005 is required.
